LAHORE - The PML-Q Forward Bloc, or the Unification Group, in the Punjab Assembly, after securing their independent status in the provincial legislature, is waiting to join the Punjab Government to make their dream come true: supporting the PML-N-led government in the province. Mian Atta Manika, the architect of the Bloc, while talking to TheNation on Tuesday said, We will certainly become part of the Punjab Government, as we are supporting the PML-N government since it took the reigns of power. He said, When we are supporting the PML-N then there is no harm in joining the government, especially at this juncture when our independent status has been acknowledged by the Speaker Punjab Assembly. When asked about closing of doors for the PPP by the PML-N in provincial government, he said, The actions of the PPP indicate that it will not be able to remain part of the Punjab Government in the near future. To another query regarding formula of share for the PML-Q rebels in the provincial government, Manika said that formula for power sharing in Punjab has yet to be finalised. Manika responding another query said that it was not written in the constitution or law that only senior party leadership has the prerogative of nominating the parliamentary party leader, while the unification group didnt fear the threat of reference against them by the minority leadership of PML-Q. When contacted, Chaudhary Zaheeruddin, general secretary PML-Q Punjab over the issue of its dissidents independent status in the provincial assembly said, We will move to the courts against the so-called members of forward bloc when they vote for Shahbaz Sharif at the time of no trust motion or if they voted in favour of any money bill. To a query about PPPs future in the provincial government, he insisted: The PPP ministers in the provincial cabinet will be shown the door in one month. He said, It seems that members of the bloc have been assured that that PPP will not remain of the Punjab Government after February 23 and they will be definitely relieved from the provincial cabinet. Meanwhile, sources in PML-Q told this scribe that the top leaders of the party were planning to foster contacts with the PPP leaders especially with those who enjoy cordial relations with the PML-Q leadership to give a befitting answer to the PML-N in Punjab. They also told that there were some leaders in the PML-Q who oppose the idea of striking the PML-N with the assistance of the PPP. Chaudhary Zaheer on this point said: Misfortune will unite the PML-Q and PPP soon.
