KAMALIA -  It has been noticed in a recent public poll that the number of beggars has increased to an alarming level in Kamalia city. During the survey, residents of different localities told this correspondent that these beggars were seen at every nook and cranny of the city – streets, bazaars, markets, roads, bus stations and other public places. The female beggars, people said, did not hesitate to even enter the houses of people on the pretext of begging. They also suspected the alleged involvement of beggars in theft, child abduction and drug-peddling like heinous crimes. “The recent significant increase in crime rate in the city ascertains our suspicion,” they noted.

Social circles demanded the authorities concerned take stern action against the professional beggars. They also demanded action against those carrying out their criminal activities in the guise of beggars.
