KARACHI - The division bench of Sindh High Court on Thursday issued directives to end the house detention of former provincial minister Altaf Unner, who had been detained in his house under MPO. The division bench comprising of Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and Justice Faisal Arab gave his release orders on the petition moved by Adil Unner, son of the former minister. The plaintiff made respondents to home secretary of Sindh, DPO Jamshoro and others in the petition by submitting that his father has been politically victimised by one of the ruling party. The Additional Advocate General Mehra Mohammad Shah appeared before the bench on behalf of the respondents. The former minister was charged of his involvement in attacking Dr Azra Fazal Pechoho, sister of President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari, during the by-election held in 2004 within the jurisdiction of Khanote police station, district Jamshoro. She alleged that Altaf Unner was involved in attacking her by firing. The case has been registered against him and later was arrested after the formation of the current government, while the court had released him when there was no charges had been proved against him. Later he was house detained under MPO by the government. His son approached the Sindh High Court by submitting the petition through Wasiq Mehr against his house detention.
