LAHORE - A proclaimed offender Sajjad alias Sajoo having head money of Rs 0.8 million killed while his two accomplices were arrested during an encounter with the Khanewal Police. The name of the deceased outlaw was included in the black book and wanted by police in murder, attempted murder, kidnap for ransom and dacoity cases. According to a police handout, DPO Khanewal Kamran Khan on special directive of Inspector General Police Punjab Shaukat Javed had constituted a team under the supervision of DSP Kabirwala Muhammad Sharif to arrest the proclaimed offenders and court absconders. The police team after receiving information Wednesday night that a proclaimed offender Sajjad and his other accomplices were coming to Lahore Morr from Khanewal in a car and on a motorbike had cordoned off the Lahore Morr. When the criminals appeared there, the police signaled the suspected vehicle and motorcycle riders to stop, upon which, the outlaws opened fire at the police party, which led to an encounter. The police arrested Abdul Waheed and Fazil Karim while Sajjad and his two accomplices managed to flee from the scene on a bike. They were chased by the police. Shootout again took place near village Jamshed Abad (Kabirwala) between the police and the fugitives. The 30 minutes encounter, at last, resulted in the killing of proclaimed offender Sajjad alias Sajoo but his two accomplices managed to escape. The police seized a rifle, a pistol and cartridges from the scene of occurrence. IGP Shaukat Javed has announced commendatory certificates and cash prizes for the police team.
