LAHORE The four FIA officers, who are members of Zafar Qureshis NICL investigation team, have been summoned by the interior secretary amid fears they could be pressed for becoming approvers against the suspended lead investigator. Interior secretary Friday evening summoned the four FIA officers, who resumed their duty at FIA Lahore office the same day. Earlier, their transfers to remote areas were cancelled at the orders of the Supreme Court, which deemed the transfers to be part of efforts to derail the NICL investigations. The four officers FIA Deputy Director Syed Javed Shah, Assistant Directors Muhammad Ahmad and Khalid Anees, and Inspector Muhammad Sarwar received summons from the Interior Secretary Khawaja Mohammad Siddique Akbar right after they resumed their duties. Sources claimed that all the four officers feared of undue pressure from the federal government to become approvers against Zafar Qureshi. The officers were feeling depressed due to the unprofessional attitude of authorities at the FIA headquarters and the Interior Ministry. A few days back the above said officers were transferred by the FIA headquarters the same day the Supreme Court got Zafar Ahmad Qureshi repatriated to the FIA as NICL chief investigator. He had been transferred and made National Police Foundation managing director. The apex court ordered Qureshis return and asked the FIA DG to facilitate him in investigation of NICL case. But the DG transferred above said four members of Qureshis team the same day. The officers were given hard postings at such distant locations as Peshawar, Quetta, Gawadar and Dera Ismail Khan. On Thursday, their transfer order was cancelled on the court orders and they were post back at FIA Lahore office. On Friday, as they rejoined their duty at the Lahore office, they were summoned by Interior secretary to Islamabad.
