ISLAMABAD - The recent move to link CNG price with 55 per cent of petrol price, as agreed between Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources and APCNGA, has created complete chaos demanding clarification, TheNation learnt reliably. Although All Pakistan CNG Association and Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources finally struck a common ground with the former agreeing on the revised increase in the gas prices, yet the incumbent government should clarify the future of CNG price to end prevailing utter chaos, which has trapped the nation, sources said, adding that Minister for petroleum and Natural Resources Dr Asim in a bid to appease APCNGA, viewing their strong countrywide protest, has linked CNG price with petrol as a parity for time being. The rise and fall in petrol price would ostensibly affect the CNG price with same fluctuation, the sources added. It is testimony of the fact that APCNGA deferred their plan to hold countrywide protests from July 13 against the proposed much debated hefty increase in gas price after their meeting with Petroleum Minster Dr Asim Hussain on 14th July 2011.The new CNG price formula, yet in process of approval by the federal cabinet, was agreed by both the parties. The new formula will give 45 per cent saving in respect of petroleum price to the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) users. It is feared that though CNG price was announced each after six months in the country yet after this agreement whenever OGRA would announce the POL prices then it would automatically pass on same impact to the CNG, sources said. Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources and APCNGA by agreeing on the proposed increase in CNG prices while linking it with 55 per cent of petrol price has created complete mess among the masses that fluctuation in petrol price would always affect the CNG price with same oscillation in future.
