BAHAWALNAGAR: Doctors and paramedical staff of District Headquarters Hospital called off their strike after 18 hours. The doctors and staff stopped their work yesterday after the DHQ hospital's staff nurse was allegedly tortured by the relatives of a deceased patient. One Mukhtiar Ahmad of Nizampura was allegedly expired due to the negligence of a nurse. He was admitted to medical ward and expired as staff nurse delayed to attend the patient, his relatives alleged. However, the relatives of deceased became furious and allegedly torture the staff nurse and broken the articles of the ward. After that protesters put the dead body of the patient on the road and staged a demonstration, they set tyres on fire and blocked the road they also shouted slogan against DHQ staff. Meanwhile, ADCG Asad Ali khan rushed to the spot and rebuke the medical superintendent at the incident .Doctors and hospital staff resented the ADCG attitude and went on strike .After that doctors stopped their work, which posed great disturbance to the patients. The situation in the DHQ hospital became disturbing, however later doctors deputed one doctor in emergency and outdoor. In the end doctors called off their strike after written apologies from the relatives of deceased patient.
