In occupied Kashmir, veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, expressing concern over the holding of dance programmes in the name of cultural functions in educational institutions, has said that India is pushing the Kashmiris towards moral bankruptcy. Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar said, There is concrete evidence to believe that the policy makers in New Delhi are bent on pushing our youth into an abyss of immorality and debauchery. They are using some corrupt people among us to give practical shape to New Delhis heinous designs in Kashmir. He said that this was a matter of concern and if the moral waywardness was not curbed, then it would ruin the whole society. Our centuries old moral values are in danger due to this cultural onslaught. This was being done to keep our youth away from the national and religious issues, he said. The veteran leader pointed out that Ulemas could have played vital role in curbing the social evils, but they were not paying any attention towards this grave issue. We will not remain mute spectator on this issue and will aware nation how our youth are being pushed towards destruction, he added. Gilani also strongly denounced the detention of two junior doctors of Government Medical College Srinagar for putting up posters against holding of dance programme. The veteran leader said, the root cause of all problems in the occupied territory including immorality lies in Indias military occupation of Kashmir but our Ulema are not discharging their obligatory duty of opposing this occupation and oppression.
