ISLAMABAD - Strongly brushing aside the impression of rejoining government, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has stuck to its stance to sit on opposition benches and play its role as 'positive opposition party. MQM strongly denied the impression to rejoin government benches. There is no change in our decision and we will sit on opposition benches, said Senior MQM leader Waseem Akhtar, quashing the electronic media supposition regarding MQM to rejoin government in near future. Talking to TheNation, he further said that Muttahida would definitely oppose and indicate wrong policies of incumbent government. The MQM will also support and appreciate positive steps for the welfare of masses at the same time, said MQM leader. Political pundits assumed that PPP was making all-out efforts to bring back its erstwhile coalition partner but the recent statement of PPP leader Zulfiqar Mirza had further created gap between two parties and now it was difficult to win back them on government benches. Although Muttahida has been being pressurised to rejoin the government for the last many days, MQM sources said, yet the recent episode has created bad impression and now it is almost impossible to sit on government benches in near future. It is hard nut to crack now. Party has changed its strategy and all possibilities have died down, they said.
