MIRPUR (APP) - Construction work on all the sites of AJK-based 969MW Neelum-Jhelum hydropower project, including intake and power house, is in full swing, official sources said. Finances amounting to $ 2.16 billion required for the completion of the project (located in Muzaffarabad district) have already been arranged, the sources told APP. Besides other related works, drilling of the adit and head-race tunnels up to five and a half kilometer respectively have already been completed, the sources said. The WAPDA is actively considering the use of modern tunnel boring machine for the completion of project earlier than scheduled. They said the completion of project was vital to overcome electricity crisis and for the countrys economic development. The project on completion would generate 969MW electricity annually. , while benefits of the project have been estimated at Rs 30 billion per annum, the sources added.
