KHANEWAL-Five persons allegedly raped a girl after kidnapping over refusal of matrimonial proposal. The Kacha Khu Police arrested the main accused and registered a case against him.

According to the Kacha Khu Police, the FIR no 230/16 has been registered on the application of M Yaqoob, a resident of 19-9/R Sharqi under Section 376. According to the applicant, five persons including two females - Rasheed alias Shilo, Majeed, son of Gulzar, Misbah Bibi and Saba Bibi along with their unidentified accomplice kidnapped his daughter. The accused took the girl, aged 18, to their home where Rasheed alias Shilo locked her in a room and raped her while the family members were in the house.

On hearing to the shrieks of the girl, neighbours gathered there and found her crying for help. Later, both the parties attempted to resolve the issue through a "Panchayat" which remained inconclusive. The girl was shifted to DHQ Hospital Khanewal for medical examination where doctor confirmed the incident. The SHO said the police have arrested the main accused Rasheed and according to preliminary investigation, it seems it was consensual sex.

"There are no signs of rape rather it is a case of intercourse with consent," he claimed.

On the other hand, father of the girl accused the police of siding with the accused, saying that the police intentionally did not include sections of kidnapping in the FIR, adding that he would approach the court for justice. He claimed that the police arrested co-accused Majeed but released him after few hours. The Kacha Khu Police SHO, however, refused all the allegations and said the police have arrested the main accused and further investigating into the case is underway.
