LAHORE: The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore organised a meeting on “Roadmap for Veterinary Education improvement” yesterday.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha chaired the meeting while Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science Prof Dr Masood Rabbani, Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad, Prof Dr Aleem Bhatti and Quality Enhancement Cell director Dr Dawar Hameed Mughal and a large number of faculty members were attended.

The meeting was aimed to suggest revisions and modifications in the curriculum of veterinary education keeping in view the current needs of livestock and related sectors.  The participants actively took part in the discussion session and forwarded various suggestions.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Naseer stressed that the curriculum of professional degree programs need to be regularly updated and bring innovative changes in veterinary major course according to the modern-day needs. He advised teachers to focus on the betterment of the students by adopting innovative teaching methodologies for enhancing the students’ competencies.

Prof Dr Masood Rabbani, in a presentation, focused on social needs from the veterinary profession. He called for increasing leadership and communication skills of students and new knowledge required to ensure food security and safety, zoonosis, animal welfare, etc. He also suggested revisiting the DVM student internship programme to make it more effective and productive.

TRAINING WORKSHOP: The Business School of University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore in collaboration with the Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) organised a five-day short term training workshop for the capacity building of Principles/DDOs Colleges of the Punjab yesterday.–Staff Reporter

The workshop focused on equipping them with better skills about governance, finance and audit matters.

VC Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha briefed them on the UVAS academic, research and training programmes. He also discussed with participants about the misconception about the poultry meat. Later they visited various departments of the university.
