MIRPUR (AJK) - District Returning Officer Raja Tariq Javed Khan here Wednesday warned the candidates to strictly obey the code of conduct determined by the AJK election commission during the ongoing election campaign as well as the day of polling for the scheduled June 26 AJK Legislative Assembly elections. Talking to reporters in his office here, the DRO said that the warning is being issued to the candidates belonging to various contestant political parties as well as independents to ensure holding of the polling for the elections in peaceful and fair environment. The DRO declared that the candidates found violating the code of conduct might face the penalty of disqualification from contesting the scheduled elections. He advised the candidates to desist from using loudspeakers, exchange of mud-slinging against each other through slanderous public statements and speeches, use and display of arms besides other immoral things prohibited in the code of conduct to ensure holding of the polls in absolutely free, fair and peaceful atmosphere.
