LAHORE An unnamed 15-day old girl died after the City District Government Health Department officials administered near expiry Polio drops as part of Special Immunization Campaign to eradicate the menace. As per the officials, the CDG team was administering Polio drops near Mehmood Booti Chowk in Baghbanpura area on Wednesday. The condition of unnamed infant, daughter of Abdul Khaliq, started deteriorating soon after the team administered Polio drops having expiry date of July 11. The team, however, contradicted with the parents and insisted that the condition of infant was quite stable. The parent took the girl to nearby dispensary in Shalimar Town and got the same response from the doctor on duty. When the girl was brought to a nearby private clinic, the doctor informed the parents that administering Polio drops caused reaction. Later, the girl was pronounced dead. Executive District Officer Health Dr Umar Baloch suspended two Lady Health Workers (LHWs) Rozina Siddique and Robina Imran, vaccinator Muhammad Saad and Zonal Supervisor Jafar Iqbal for negligence of duties. He said that thorough investigation would be carried out and stringent action would be taken against the responsible.
