QUETTA - Balochistan High Court (BHC) while expressing resentment over torturing of Police Surgeon Doctor Baqir Shah, who conducted autopsy of foreigners killed in Kharotabad incident on May 17 has said that through such incidents the role of police has become suspicious. A special Division Bench of BHC comprising Chief Justice Qazi Faez Essa and Justice Naheem Akthar passed these remarks here on Wednesday while hearing a Constitutional petition about Police Surgeon Dr. Baqir Shah who was tortured allegedly by police. CCPO Quetta and other police authorities appeared before the court during the hearing. They apprised that on the order of DIG Operations, SHOs City and Gwalmandi police stations were suspended following the incident. At this, court expressed its serious anger while seeing suspended police officials in uniform and asked suspended police officials under which section of law they were still in uniform as according to police laws suspended officers or constables of police could not wear uniform. Police official stated that actually police wanted to arrest ASI traffic Imran but mistakenly arrested Dr. Baqir who was drunk and it had no link with Kharotabad incident. At this Chief Justice told police authorities that they were describing their crime as an act of foolishness so we have doubt on police role. 'Instead of punishing policeman who committed the crime he is being defended, he added. 'Kharotabad Tribunal has not been formed by our directive rather it has been formed by provincial government, he said. The court was informed that two investigation teams comprising six members has been formed to be headed by SP Investigation Khalid Manzoor to probe into the incident while a departmental inquiry would also be carried out. The departmental inquiry will be carried out by SP Abdullah Jan. On the occasion, SP Abdullah Jan told the court that departmental inquiry will be completed within six days.
