LAHORE - Head of Sunni Tehreek Muhammad Sarwat Ejaz Qadri has said that there is dearth of leadership in the country and the only way to unite the nation was to implement the philosophy of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Muhammad Iqbal. He expressed these views while delivering a lecture at Hameed Nizami Hall on Wednesday. Ejaz Qadri said that it was biggest mistake of present rulers to ignore the ideology of Pakistan and problems facing the people. He was of the firm belief that nation became directionless after it forgot its national heroes. While saying that Sunni Tehreek had nothing to do with terrorism, he held politicians and so-called custodians of religion responsible for the existing lawlessness and wave of terrorism in the country. Those assigned the task of protecting life of the people were taking their lives, he lamented. He asked political parties to stop supporting and providing oxygen to terrorists to control terrorism. Qadri demanded formation of national government consisting of technocrats and holding of free and fair elections under an independent Election Commission to steer the country out of the current quagmire of problems. He said that neat and clean people like Javed Hashmi, Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan and Imran Khan should also be made part of the interim set up.
