ISLAMABAD - The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is likely to approve Rs 2.05 billion for the provision of infrastructure facilities in sector H-10 of the federal capital. Talking to TheNation here on Thursday, a senior official of CDA informed that CDA's Development Working Party (CDA DWP) was likely to approve Rs 2.05 billion in its next meeting for the provision of external infrastructure facilities for International Islamic University (IIU) in sector H-10. Meeting of the CDA DWP was scheduled to be held on May 17, but was cancelled due to the death of the mother of CDA Chairman Kamran Lashari the official informed, adding that the meeting would be held soon on some other suitable date. It is pertinent to mention here that the CDA has handed over entire of the sector H-10, covering an area of 704 acres, to the IIU administration for the establishment of its Campus, except an area of 2.53 acres allotted to T&T Department. Internal development of the sector was decided to be carried out by the university's administration while CDA was to develop external infrastructure facilities, the official maintained. He informed that the same included construction of roads and development of the drainage system, water supply system, external electrification including street lights, landscaping and sanitation while cost of the land acquired for the sector has also been paid by the Authority. The official informed that the project would be completed within two years for which the funds would be allocated for the next fiscal year. He said Rs 108.66 million have been already spent in the sector other than the estimated amount CDA is likely to approve soon. Some Rs 431.765 have been allocated for the construction of roads and other related structures as per the PC-1 of the project while Rs 42.488 millions would be spent on provision of drainage system, the official informed. Similarly, Rs 77.425 million have been allocated for the development of water supply system, Rs 28.771 million for sanitary system and Rs 220 million have been allocated for carrying out electrification works including street lights and traffic signals, the official maintained. He said another sum of Rs 180 million has to be spent on provision of Sui Gas facility in the sector, Rs 52.883 million on landscaping works while Rs 33.529 is cost of the land acquired for the sector. Moreover, Rs 880.435 million would be spent on the projects like public parks, grid station, sewerage treatment plant and the like. CDA would provide the entire cost of the development of the sector from its own resources, said the official.
