KARACHI - Members of the Karachi Bar Council (KBA), on the call of Pakistan Bar Council to boycott the court proceeding and PCO judges in Sindh High Court and City Court, on Thursday took out a protest rally and observed sit-in on main MA Jinnah Road. In City Court and High Court, lawyers observed complete boycott of the court proceeding while members of the Malir District Court observed one hour boycott and protest for the restoration of judges.   A general body meeting of Karachi Bar Association (KBA) was held at Shuhda-i-Punjab Hall of the City Courts under the chair of President KBA Mehmoodul Hassan. Speaking on the occasion, general secretary KBA Naeem Qureshi said that conspiracies were being hatched at the President House to shatter the unity of lawyers' community as the establishment and President Musharraf wanted to thwart the reinstatement of judges through different tactics. He applauded the deposed judges and said that a couple of days ago governors of all the provinces had contacted the deposed judges of High Courts and asked them to assume offices but they had refused to take position without restoration of CJP Iftikhar Chaudhry. KBA President Mehmoodul Hassan said that lawyers' movement would continue till the restoration of judges and freedom of judiciary. He further said that Pervez Musharraf want to prolong his rule through fascist acts. He said that political parties should solve the judicial crisis on priority basis because they got mandate of people due to the struggle of lawyers against the military rule. Later, hundreds of lawyers took out a rally from Shuhada-e-Punjab Hall City Court and marched through different roads and also observed a sit-in on main MA Jinnah Road. They were holding placards and banners and chanting slogans for the restoration judges and against President Pervez Musharraf. President Sindh High Court Bar Association (SHCBA), Rashid A Rizvi, while addressing a general body meeting, said that deposed judges would reject offers to assume office through back doors dealings. He said that rulers have failed to fulfil their promises and violating the Murree Declaration.
