RAWALPINDI-Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif said that Punjab government would play its due role for the rehabilitation of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of troubled areas of Swat. He said this on his arrival at Benazir Bhutto International Airport while addressing the high ups of provincial government at Rawal Lounge here on Friday. Mian Shahbaz informed that to accelerate the ongoing relief activities a co-ordination committee between Punjab and North West Frontier Province (NWFP) has been constituted which would oversee the relief operation. On this occasion, Chief Secretary Punjab Javed Mehmood, Commissioner Rawalpindi Zahid Saeed, District Coordination Officer (DCO) Imdad Ullah Bosal, PML-N MNA Hanif Abbasi, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Tariq Saleem Dogar, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Nasir Khan Durrani, City Police Officer (CPO) Rao Muhammad Iqbal Khan and SP Potohar Rana Shahid Pervez were also present. PML-N MNA Hanif Abbasi, while briefing the CM, said that some 150 relief good-loaded trucks have been dispatched by the provincial government to the IDPs makeshift camps at Swat whereas 50 more trucks were in the way to the troubled areas of NWFP, he added. The relief goods including rice, flour, sugar, medicines, bed sheets etc for the IDPs are being gathered with the coordination of Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) and other trade unions of the city, MNA maintained. On this Mian Shehbaz replied It is the aid by one brother (Punjab) to another (NWFP). Punjab government would accommodate the IDPs of Swat at different schools of the province. He said that the coordination committee would comprise a government officer and MNA Hanif Abbasi. Earlier, CM Punjab Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif arrived at Benazir Bhutto International Airport (BBIAP) from Islamic Republic of Iran. Upon his arrival, he was welcomed at Rawal Lounge of BBIAP by the Punjab government and Police high ups. Later, CM was escorted to Punjab House Rawalpindi amid tight security where he (Shehbaz) spent some time and proceeded towards Islamabad.
