Rawalpindi-Regional Police Officer (CPO) Wisal Fakhar Sultan Raja has dismissed a cop from service for having links with criminals and drug smugglers. The RPO dismissed Head Constable Muhammad Azeem in light of an inquiry report conducted by SSP Range Investigation Bureau Malik Sikandar Hayyat, informed a police spokesman yesterday.

According to him, it came into the notice of RPO Wisal Fakhar thorough his own sources that Head Constable Muhammad Azeem has strong links with criminals and he used to take extortion from drug smugglers and sellers to provide them shelter.

He said the cop recovered 1,500 grams of heroin from a smuggler namely Khair-ul-Bashar in January 2016 in Hassanabdal but released the smuggler in return of hefty bribe. The matter was brought into notice of the RPO who ordered the SP for holding an inquiry against the cop, he said. The cop was found guilty in inquiry.

On the other hand, a police team headed by Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Javed Khan raided a gambling den at Bhosa Mandi and held 12 persons busy in gambling. Police also recovered Rs 400,000 cash, mobile phones and other stuff that was put on stake by the gamblers. A case has also been lodged against the accused who were identified as Dost Muhammad, Malik Mola Bakash, Raja Ijaz, Kamran, and others.
