SUKKUR - Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister on Zakat and Usher Dr Abdul Qayoom Soomro on Saturday directed the district chairmen of Zakat & Usher to ensure provision of zakat funds to the deserving persons regardless of their political affiliations. Talking to a delegation at his residence here, the adviser said he had directed the chairmen of District Zakat Committees to perform their duties amicably and transparently by ensuring provision of marriage grant, guzara allowance, including educational stipends, health care, jahez, rehabilitation and social welfare, education stipends (technical) and Eid grant from Zakat funds to the deserving persons. He said Zakat funds are a trust, which should reach the deserving persons, keeping their self-respect intact.

He called upon them to discharge their duties effectively and, in case of any difficulty, contact his office immediately.

Soomro directed that surprise visits should be paid to those hospitals which were provided financial assistance to check whether the teams deputed for the assistance of deserving persons in the hospitals were performing their duties properly.

He further said that the deserving patients should be given due respect during treatment so that their self-respect should not be hurt.
