LAHORE – Inspector General of Police Punjab Mohammad Habibur Rehman has urged the police officers to become a symbol of terror for criminals but symbol of peace and security for innocent citizens. He further said each DPO has been granted the powers of the IGP in his respective area. Therefore, the officers should never feel any hesitation while fighting against criminals.

The provincial police chief stated this while inaugurating two-day DPO Training Course here at Management and Professional Development Department on Monday. Additional IG Malik Khuda Bakhsh Awan was also present on this occasion.

The IGP further said the DPOs should ensure proper coordination among three important pillars, administration, judiciary and police in their districts for eradication of crimes. Provincial Police Chief also said that honest and dedicated police officers would be protected whereas the corrupt police officers or officials would be terminated from their services on proving of corruption charges. Habib-ur-Rehman further stressed upon the DPOs to maintain constant liaison between the public, media and local leadership for provision of relief to the citizens.

The two-day course for all DPOs serving in the Punjab province has been launched in three different phases and at least ten DPOs, SPs and Additional SPs would attend the course in each phase.

Various experts will deliver lectures on the subjects of “Police Financial Management, Community Policing and Relations with Media, Judiciary and Public.  The participants of the course would also visit Forensic Lab.

Meanwhile, according to an official handout, the IGP Punjab has approved the establishment of a new police post at Sufi City, district Mandi Bahauddin.

Police helpline at The Mall ordered: Capital City Police Officer Ahmad Raza Tahir has ordered the police to set up Helpline at The Mall near Masjid-e-Shuhda in order to facilitate traders, citizens and shoppers in case of any emergency or law and order situation.

He further stressed that court decision regarding complete ban on rallies and processions at Shahra-e-Quaid-e-Azam (The Mall) would be ensured to maintain peaceful atmosphere for the citizens.

According to a police spokesman, the CCPO stated this while talking a 25-members delegation of The Mall Traders Association here on Monday.
