PESHAWAR - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Chief Minister, Ameer Haider Khan Hoti has said that spreading the light of education is the only way to resolve the challenges facing the country.

He said the present government took solid and practical measures for generalising of education at all levels along with professional education. He said the government gave preference to quality over quantity in health sector. He was talking to a students panel of literal society from Bacha Khan Medical College Mardan at CM House on Monday. Principal BMC Dr Zia-ul-Islam was also present on the occasion. The panel comprised Shahi Faris, Javed, Nauman Ali, Shafiq, Zenab Ibad. The panel asked some interesting questions from the CM about his personal educational and the professional life.

The CM said that a cadet college and university in Swat and 40 colleges were established along with upgradation of hundreds of primary, middle and high schools in reign of this government, while cadet college in Lakki Marwat and separate university in Charsadda will soon be established. He said that sub-campuses of AWKU Mardan have been spread to Charsadda, Nowshera, Sawabi, Buner, Dir and Chitral within short span of three years. He cited two important programmes of his government in education sector that were aimed at encouragement to intelligent students and extending education facilities to every area. Those programs included Stori Da Pakhtunkhwa and Rokhana Pakhtunkhwa. He informed that the provincial government will bear educational expenses of children enrolled to a private school hailing from union councils that lack government school while monthly scholarships were being offered to top ten position holders in Matric and FA/ FSc examinations under entire educational boards of the province in order that students can continue their educational endeavors without being burden on their parents.

The CM said that a stark and clear difference would surface on comparing current situation of Swat with situation with situation prevailing there some three to four years back. He said though the government undertook efforts for establishing peace in Swat, yet the entire credit went to the people. He further added that successes attained in connection with rights of the province and provincial autonomy were not possible without support and cooperation of the people. To a query, he responded that his government was prioritizing availability of qualitative facilities over quantity in health sector and has undertaken efforts to activate medical institutions. To a question regarding Bacha Khan Medical College, he said that keeping current performance of the college it could safely be said that the college will soon be among best medical colleges of the country. He said that completion of third phase in Mardan Medical complex would ensure availability of all those facilities, which were available in three major hospitals of Peshawar. Moreover, he said that third phase of District Headquarters Hospital Mardan has also been approved, that will make available modern treatment facilities to people of associated areas along with Mardan and will fulfill future needs of medical college.
