LAHORE - GPO Chowk turned into a battleground on Monday when the relatives of a couple, who had love marriage, attacked each other. Women were among the attacker.

The couple, Aamir Sohail and Abida, came to the Lahore High Court for their appearance in an application for quashing a case registered with Arifwala police for kidnapping the girl against the groom. The couple came to know, by their counsel that their case had not been fixed for hearing and suggest they go back. At this, the relatives of the bride tried to snatch her from Aamir Sohail and threatened him over her custody. The crowd started quarreling with Aamir Sohail and his counsel over the refusal. However, police and lawyers helped the couple flee. The crowed became furious and started protest at the GPO Chowk when they came to know about the escape. Aamir Sohail’s two friends and his relatives also reached the Chowk. Both parties used legs and fits on each others, resultantly two protesters were injured who were later shifted to nearby hospital. The massive traffic jam witnessed by many for more then an hour on Mall Road.
