ISLAMABAD Teachers have demanded launching of a housing scheme for them in the federal capital. Housing schemes for army, CDA, media and other departments have been established in the city but teachers, who are already neglected persons in the society, still stand deprived of this facility, said a group of teachers.

“We are from low-income groups of the society and even our allowances are not equal to the employees of other departments. Within our meagre income, we cannot purchase a plot even after retirement,” said Anwar Ali, a teacher. “We are builders of nation but no housing society has been built for us, how pitiful it is,” said Inayat Hussain, a teacher. Teachers associations appealed to the President and Prime Minister to announce housing scheme for them.
