LAHORE-The Senate of University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore approved the recurring and development budget of the University for the year 2012-13 amounting to Rs.2337.900 million showing a deficit of Rs.121.666 million.

The Senate meeting was chaired by the Chancellor/Governor of the Punjab Sardar Muhammad Latif Khan Khosa.

Vice-Chancellor Lt. Gen. (R) Muhammad Akram Khan presented the report for 30th meeting of the Senate and thanked the Chancellor/Governor of the Punjab Sardar Latif Khan Khosa for taking time out from his busy schedule to attend the Senate meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor said that according to the QS world ranking, UET was ranked at 281 amongst the top engineering and technology universities of the world. The VC said that UET had an international standing, and its graduates were acknowledged the world over.

Speaking on the occasion, Governor Sardar Latif Khan Khosa said that education could overcome the menace of poverty, unemployment and even terrorism in the country. “Considering the fact that we were pioneers and leaders in Algebra and Geometry, it is need of the hour to revisit our heritage”, he observed, adding, “We all are Pakistanis and we cannot be a nation unless we have the spirit of unity, faith and discipline”. The Chancellor said that Pakistan had a passionate youth, doctors and engineers.

The government could not do anything alone, as it is the combined efforts which are required, he added.
