KARACHI - At least four terrorists of Balochistan-based separatist group were gunned down during an exchange of fire with the law enforcers here on Sunday.

Security agencies said they were involved in the killings of Chinese in Hub and various other activities of terrorism.

Exchange of fire between the law enforcers and the terrorists took place when extra contingent of Rangers and police conducted a raid at their hideout near Ismail Shah shrine in Memon Goth locality.

They said the militants opened indiscriminate fire at them when they came close to their hideout. During an exchange of fire, three militants were killed and another arrested in injured condition.

The bodies and the injured militant were taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for autopsies and treatment. The militants were later identified as Zahid, Nasir and Habib alias Fauji. The injured militant was identified as Elahi Buksh alias Guddu. SHO Asadullah, however, said the injured terrorist later succumbed to injuries at hospital.

Rangers spokesperson said these terrorists belonged to Baloch Liberation Army (BLA). “They were providing support to BLA in Karachi,” he explained. Besides supporting the BLA in Karachi, the militants were involved in various cases of terrorism and crime in Karachi and Hub areas including railway track blast near Gharo, killing of Chinese at Hub check-post in 2010 and 2011, extortion, targeted killings and kidnapping for ransom.


Two people including an eatery shop owner were shot dead in target killing incident. The incident took place in Nazimabad area when unidentified armed assailants resorted to indiscriminate fire at an eatery namely Rasheed Qourma. Resultantly, the eatery owner namely Rehan Rasheed, 28, was killed on the spot. a customer Murad Saeed, 60, and an eatery employee were also wounded in the incident. The armed assailants, however, managed to escape after committing the crime. They were immediately taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where Saeed also succumbed to injuries while Imran was admitted with critical injuries.

Police officials said Rasheed and Saeed were shot once each in their heads. Four armed culprits, riding two motorcycles, were behind the incident. Police officials said Rasheed was the target of the culprits. They said the motive behind the incident had yet to be ascertained. Apparently, it seems that it occurred over sectarian basis. A case has been registered. Further investigation is underway.

Separately, a young man was found dead from Khuldabad area within the jurisdictions of Shah Latif police station. The victim has yet to be identified. Police officials said some unidentified persons after kidnapping the victim tortured him severely as several marks of knife stabs were also found on his body. The body was shifted to morgue in Sohrab Goth for identification after medicolegal formalities at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.

FOUR OF A FAMILY DROWN IN SEA AT MANORA: Four members of same family drowned in sea while enjoying swimming here on Sunday. Two bodies were recovered while search for two others was in progress. Police said a family of Nazimabad No-2 Karachi came to Manora Beach for picnic. Eight family members were swept away by a gushing wave.

Rescue divers managed to save four people alive while four others drowned in deep water. Bodies of two people were identified as Badar and Moazzam. Search for the bodies of Talha and Mehraj was underway.
