AHMEDPUR EAST - A meeting held at the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital here found that the hospital is faced with shortage of medicines, doctors and paramedical staff thereby adding to the miseries of patients.

However, Bahawalpur District Coordination Officer Imran Sikandar said that wards at Tehsil Headquarters Hospital would be made operational after renovation, medicines will be provided on emergency basis and doctors and paramedics would be recruited there.

He pledged this while chairing a meeting of health officers in the office of Medical Superintendent Zafaullah Sial. The DCO inspected the newly installed bio metric machine and got details of the shortage of the medicines, doctors and paramedics.  MPA Qazi Adnan Farid, Assistant Commissioner Ahmedpur East Dr Malik AttaulHaq, the executive district officer (health) and district health officer were also present. The medical superintendent said that the demand for provision of Rs6.6 million had been submitted for purchase of medicines and running the dialysis unit. The MPA demanded the supply dog bite vaccine and insulin immediately. The district health officer told the DCO that he would provide required dog bite vaccine for the hospital while the executive district officer informed that with a short span of time insulin will also be supplied. 

The DCO directed the assistant commissioner to launch a two-week campaign for culling stray dogs in Ahmedpur East. He told the participants to visit civil hospital each month and asked the EDO health to visit THQ every week.
