LAHORE - Two college girls reported to have died after taking tranquilizers in Raiwind, police said late Friday.  Both the girls, identified as Anam Jameel, 16, and Muskan Amjad, 17, are said to be close friends.

It was learnt that the FSc students swallowed the sleepping pills at their academy class in Raiwind police limits. They were taken to the hospital by the college staff soon after their condition got deteriorated at the educational institution.

City Raiwind policeman Aman Ullah said the girls were rushed to the Sharif Medical Complex on Raiwind Road, where one of them was pronounced as “brought dead” while the other expired later.

SP Ejaz Shafi Dogar said: “One of the girls told a policeman at the hospital that they took sleeping pills just for an experiment.” She also expired later, he added.

When the police reached the hospital, the body of one of the girl was taken to her native town of Manga Mandi.  The family told the police that the girls ended their lives over some domestic issue. However, police say they have been investigation.

Sabzazar police on Friday claimed to have smashed a gang of robbers by arresting its two members involved in several cases of street crimes.

SHO Sabzazar police station Atif Zulfiqar said that they also recovered two pistols, 15 mobile phones, and Rs 200,000 from their possession. The arrested bandits were identified as Khadim Hussain and Babar Zaman.
