Thousands of citizens took to roads in entire South Punjab to condemn re-publication of sacrilegious caricatures by a French magazine on Friday. The protest rallies were organised by religious organizations like Jamaat-e-Islami, Jamaatud Dawa (JuD), Ahle Hadith Youth Force (AHYF), JUI-F, Ahle Sunnat Waljamat (ASW) and Majlis Wahdatul Muslimeen (MWM) in Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan and Bahawalpur divisions. The protesters carried out non-stop sloganeering against France and burnt French flags to express their resentment. They were also joined by lawyers, traders and students.

In Multan, the activists of Jamaat-e-Islami held demo at Kalma Chowk under the leadership of Asif Akhwani while JuD at Nawan Shehr, AHYF Ghanta Ghar Tughlaq Road under the leadership of Ali Abdullah, JUI-F at Hazoori Bagh Road and ASW Sameejabad.

Majlis Wahdatul Muslimeen staged a demonstration under the leadership of Nadir Abbas Alvi and Iqtidar Hussain Naqvi. Angry Muslims burnt the French flag and shouted slogans,” we are Mustafai and we are not Charlies,” said local politicians, Lawyers, teenaged students of seminaries. Some raising their fists in the air as a Charlie Hebdo poster was burnt. Jamaat-e-Islami activists staged a demonstration after Friday prayers in front of Madarsah Jamiaul Aloom. The demo was led by local leaders. They said “Freedom of expression does not extend to insulting the noble and the greatest prophet of Allah.” Jamaatud dawah staged a demonstration at Chowk Nawan Shehr and they burnt Paris flag to express their anger. The demo was led by Abdul Rehman Siyaf .They shouted slogans against jewish which had published sacrilegious magazine. People’s Lawyers Forum organised a protest demo at chowk Kutchery under the leadership of Sheikh Ghiyasul Haq Divisional President of PLF. They shouted slogans against the Jewish lobby which had insulted our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
