RAWALPINDI Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi bench on Wednesday directed City Police Officer (CPO) Faisalabad to arrest former MNA of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) Chaudhry Safdar Rehman in a bogus cheque case. The LHC also directed District Coordination Officer (DCO), Faisalabad, to provide details of movable and immovable assets of Safdar Rehman to Rawalpindi police. The court further directed the CPO Rawalpindi to appear before the court on the next hearing on June 28 and explain what efforts had been made to arrest the former MNA. According to details, colonel (Retd) Chaudhry Abdul Khaliq Anjum had moved the LHC seeking arrest of Chaudhry Safdar Rehman who was booked by Rawalpindi police for giving a bogus cheque worth Rs 23.5 million to the petitioner, as the money was borrowed by the former MNA on December 4, 2009. The investigation officer told the LHC that he went Faisalabad to arrest the PML-N leader but local police owing to the influence of the accused did not cooperate with him.
