A three-member judges' bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday rejected a petition calling for the disqualification of the Sharif brothers, a private TV reported. The petition was disposed of for default of prosecution. The petition, filed on behalf of one Shahid Orakzai, said that since Nawaz Sharif had been convicted in the plane-hijacking case and in other cases, therefore he should be declared disqualified from contesting elections. The petition further said that Shahbaz Sharif after winning the election from one constituency, stood for the polls in another area without resigning from his first seat. This was a violation of election laws, the petition stated. However, for default of prosecution, the petition was disposed of by the Lahore High Courts full bench headed by Justice Ejaz Chaudhry.
