LAHORE - President Pak-Iran Friendship Association Zia Haider Rizvi has congratulated the governments of Pakistan and Iran on the signing of the history-making agreement of Pak-Iran Gas pipeline. The members of the Association think that the latest UN Security Council Resolution imposing new sanctions against Iran is unjustified and does not address the problem of nuclear proliferation, said the press release issued here on Wednesday. The members request the Security Council to reconsider its resolution and opt for more engagement to address the issue. The Iranian nuclear programme is peaceful and doubts about its intentions can be removed through dialogue rather than by passing an adverse resolution in the Council, they added. The peace-loving nations should impress upon the US and western countries to pursue the dialogue option. The US-Iran tension has negative implications for the neighbouring states, including Pakistan. We, therefore, stand for peaceful resolution of the problems between Iran and the US, opined the members.
