LAHORE - A tolerant, inclusive and pluralistic society can only be achieved through youth empowerment and its productive engagement at community level.

It was stated by Youth Affairs Sports Archeology and Tourism Department Secretary Humayun Mazhar Shaikh. He expressed these views in front of Chairmen of 15 UCs of Lahore in District Planning meeting of Punjab Youth Peace Core.

Punjab Youth Peace Core seeks to orient and build capacity of a cadre of 600 youth on peace building in 30 UCs of two districts of Punjab; Lahore and Multan. These trained youngsters will work as peace champions in their local communities.

They will also take social actions in their respective areas and influence their peers to promote peaceful youth cooperation. Bargad Organization for Youth Development is the implementation partner of Punjab Youth Affairs Department in this project.

Executive Director Bargad Sabiha Shaheen also briefed the participants on the implementation plan of Punjab Youth Peace Core. Chairmen of all UCs appreciated the Punjab government for conceiving the idea of Punjab Youth Peace Core.
