SAHIWAL-The Recruitment Policy 2016 was allegedly violated by executive district officer (EDO) in the recruitment process of four assistant education officers (AEO) in district Sahiwal.

The Education Department has sought applications to recruit 47 Assistant Education Officers (AEO). A committee was constituted to scrutinise the applications. It consisted of Principal Rao Naeemullah, Senior Headmaster M Yasin Khan, Headmaster Shahid Iqbal and Headmaster M Saleem. The Scrutiny Committee rejected the applications of four candidates namely M Iqbal, Abdur Rehman, Zaheer Abbas and Asif Ali for not having required professional qualification.

The candidates said that in Recruitment Policy 2016, they are given the relaxation of three years for acquiring professional qualification after selection. However, the scrutiny committee rejected the assumption and said that it is clearly mentioned in Recruitment Policy 2016 that relaxation of professional qualification is only for the post of educators and it is not for the post of AEO.

The rejected candidates filed an appeal to EDO (Education) M Saleem Khan who accepted the appeal and allowed them to appear in the interviews held on June 20.

According to sources, the relief given to these candidates is against the law without amendment in the Recruitment Policy. The EDO abused his power to facilitate the candidates against the policy.
