HAFIZABAD-Clerks of all the government departments observed black day to protest against apathetic attitude of the government for not fulfilling its promises.

On the call of All Pakistan Clerks Association (Apca), the clerks wore black arms bandages and raised slogans against the government and demanded that services of employees from scale 1 to 16 should be upgraded. APCA President Nasrullah Hanjra said that they would continue their protest till the acceptance of their demands. He also announced that the clerks would stage sit-in demonstration in front of the DCO office on November 29.

On the other side, the DCO said suitable recreational facilities play a vital role in the mental and physical growth of the youth and it is prime duty of the administration to ensure provision of recreational facilities and to provide clean and beautiful atmosphere to the citizens.

DCO Muhammad Ali Randhawa was addressing the heads of different department. He said that a comprehensive plan has been initiated by the administration to give “new look” to the city and provide recreational facilities in the Family Park, Sagar Road Park in the city.

He particularly desired that picnics spots should be established at Head Sagar and Qadirabad barrage. He directed that filth and garbage on both sides of the canals and railway line should be cleared promptly to save the visitors from stink.
