LAHORE The deadly sting of dengue claims six more lives in the provincial metropolis on Friday. With 361 new cases of dengue, scores of people in the provincial capital have been seen rushing to the public as well as private sector hospitals for getting medical assistance to save their lives. The new victims of dengue include Fatima 25, resident of Tajpura, Rasheed 70 of Rehman Scheme and Abdul Majeed 70 belonging to Makhan Pura died at Mayo Hospital. While, two of dengue victims including Akhtar Bibi 60, resident of Mozang and M Hanif 50 of Rajgarh died at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and the last victim of the day Shahzad 25 died at Social Security Hospital. Out of 361 new cases, 72 persons were tested positive at Mayo Hospital for the dengue virus, 44 at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, 12 at Institute of Public Health, 17 at Sheikh Zaid Hospital, 19 at Lahore General Hospital, 50 at Jinnah Hospital, 32 at Services Hospital, 19 at Combined Military Hospitals and 96 at various private hospitals. While 10 more cases of dengue surfaced in other districts of the province. According to the report released by Health Department Punjab, 371 confirmed dengue patients have been reported during the last 24 hours in the province. Similarly, the total number of dengue patients has risen to 17,164, of which 14,790 related to Lahore. Four deaths occurred due to dengue during the last 24 hours.
