LAHORE The change in weather brought some relief to the consumers of Pakistan Electric Power Company as the electricity shortfall in the National Grid was dropped from 4000 megawatt to 3000MW on Sunday. There has been comparatively less load shedding across the country since last two days, a PEPCO insider told this scriber. He added that the situation was better due to decrease in demand from the domestic consumers side. The power distribution companies in Punjab are providing about two to three hours relief in outages to their consumers because of the decrease in gap between electricity demand and supply, the source said. However, the long hours outages were same as they were previously being conducted in the limits of QESCO-the only company responsible for electricity supply to Blochistan, the source added. There was also some decrease, about two hours in a day, in load shedding in PESCO and HESCOs limits. The current generation stands at 10988MW while the demand is 13988MW with the shortfall of 3000MW in the energy basket.
