KARACHI The ongoing target killing spree claimed five more lives in different parts of the metropolis on Sunday. The victims included two policemen and a worker of the Sunni Tehreek and his wife, who both were found murdered in their house. In the first incident, a Sub Inspector (SI) was gunned down in New Karachi Police Lane, within the limits of New Karachi police station. SI Zulfiqar Qaimkhani, son of Jaffar Ali Qaimkhani, was standing outside his police quarter when an armed man opened fire at him. He died on the way to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH). SHO Kamal Naseem said the victim had performed duties in several police stations and he was transferred from Bilal Colony police station to the security zone (west) two and a half months ago. Police found empty 9mm shells from the spot. The victims brother, Shamsher Qaimkhani said Zulfiqar had just got back after meeting some friends at New Karachi police station. As he was getting inside the house, an unidentified assailant targeted him and fled away. The slain has left behind six children. His body was handed over to the family after an autopsy. The funeral was offered in New Karachi police lane. Similarly, another cop was shot dead in the limits of Shah Latif police. Head Constable of Sukkhun police station, Ali Bux, 35, was shot dead on the National Highway on his way to the police station. Police said as the cop reached near Jogi Morr, two armed men on a motorcycle sprayed bullets on him. He got two bullets to his head, and died on the spot. Also, police found a bullet-riddled body of a man in North Karachi in the limits of Khawaja Ajmair Nagri police station. Police said the identity of the victim was yet to be ascertained while police found his body from sector 11-A in front of Nadeem Avenue. DSP Altaf Hussain said the locals informed police about the body lying in the bushes. The victim was wearing Shalwar Kameez and 15 rupees were found in him. Police recovered four empty shells of 9mm near the spot. The Sunni Tehreek activist and his wife were found slaughtered inside their house located in the limits of Saeedabad police station. The house where the couples bodies were found, is situated in Block D-3, Sector 19. Police found the bodies after the owner of the house saw blood seeping out, and informed police. The victims were identified as Farhan Qadri, 30, son of Chiragh Din, and his wife, 25-year-old Yasmin. SHO Abdul Moid said that unidentified culprits stabbed them to death. The deceased used to work in a private courier company, and married Yasmin one and a half year ago. Police said the motive behind the murder was yet to be ascertained and apparently it seemed a case of personal enmity. The victims brother, Sarwar Qadri has registered FIR No. 201/11 against three suspects, namely Aziz, Akhter and Anis. No arrests were made till the filing of this report.
