Former MNA and PPP leader Khalid Khan Lund has announced to quit the party and contest election as independent candidate against PPP’s Mahar. After a meeting of the PPP leadership with the Mahar and Lund groups of Ghotki at the residence of Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Wednesday, both sides failed reaching any understanding to accommodate each other in the next elections. The PPP leadership asked Lund to withdraw his cousin against Sardar Ali Nawaz Khan Mahar in Ghotki. To which, Lund argued that his cousin Babar Khan Lund is a PML-F candidate, so he can do nothing in this regard.

The PPP leadership ignored Lund and awarded NA-200 ticket to Sardar Ali Gohar Mahar.

Following the development, Lund announced to quit the PPP and contest election as independent candidate.

Talking to TheNation, Lund said he has left the party as its leadership gave importance to Mahar group. He said he would contest election as independent candidate against Mahar of the PPP in Ghotki, adding that Jam Mehtab Dahar and Haji Ali Ahmed Pitafi of the PPP have already extended their support for him.
