The Supreme Court of Pakistan rejected a petition to keep the Lal Masjid report confidential and ordered that it be made public.

A three member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry heard the Lal Masjid suo moto case. The Lal Masjid commission had requested that the report be made confidential but after evaluating the report the court ordered for it to be made public.

The CJP remarked that although the Commission had requested for keeping the report secret but the report contained contents of public importance.

The report will be provided to all those who request for it and the apex court ordered that copies be given to all members of the bench and the lawyer for Lal Masjid.

The court appointed Tariq Asad as amicus curiae and the hearing was adjourned for ten days.
