Three people made suicide attempts while one of them died and two others were brought to District Hospital Gujranwala.

Qasim (22), a resident of Boraywala area, swallowed poisonous pills after being insulted by his parent. The patient was rushed to the District Hospital Gujranwala while Qasim died during his way to hospital. In another incident of suicide attempt under desperation, a driver put himself to fire out of desperation due to poor economic conditions.

Tariq Mahmood (34), a resident of Ratanpura areain Alipur Gujranwala, put himself on fire out of desperation after having quarrel with the family members. He is stated to be in critical condition and has been referred to Lahore. In another case of suicide attempt is being observed here as Luban Nasreen (40) tried to finish her life by jumping in Chanab river while she was saved by the locals and she is reported to be stable.

ANTI-POLIO DRIVE: On first day of polio vaccination, 252,167 children were vaccinated here in Gujranwala.

On the first day of anti-polio drive, 1,450 mobile teams administered vaccination to 252,167 children during their door to door pursuit to vaccinate children while 78 teams were present at public places like railway station, bus stops and on other important points to vaccinate children. Children who missed the vaccination due to absence were noted which would be catered afterwards. Special meeting held here at EDO Health office in which district officers, Polio Eradication officer of WHO and other zonal supervisors participated to insure the effectiveness of the polio vaccination campaign. EDIO Dr Azhar Masood and ADC Saliha Sayyed supervised the activity of polio vaccination.
