PESHAWAR - Peshawar police Saturday registered an FIR against unknown persons over the killing of Awami National Party leader Najma Hanif, who was killed by unknown armed persons here at Hayatabad area on Friday night.

She was targeted inside her house when armed persons entered her house in Hayatabad. She sustained one bullet in his head and succumbed to her injuries on the spot. Her stepson told police that armed persons entered his house and opened fire at her mother, which resulted into her killing on the spot. Police registered FIR against unknown persons and started investigation.

Earlier in 2011 her husband Hanif Jadoon and her son were died in a suicide attack in Swabi. Meanwhile Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan has strongly condemned the killing of ANP woman leader Najma Hanif and ordered high-level investigation of the incident.
