The district administration has started free boat service in flooded villages of Bajwat for free of cost transportation of the people between Bajwat villages and Sialkot city.

Thousands of the people were left stranded and are taking shelter at the rooftops of their houses. District Officer (Coordination) Sialkot Malik Abid Hussain said that 10 boats were busy in transporting the flood affected people. He said that the boat service had been started in flooded villages on the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. He had directed the Sialkot district administration during his visit to Sialkot flood-hit areas here on Friday in this regard.

Besides, the administration started intercity transport service for the flood-hit people.

Two days ago, the seasonal nullahs Aik, Bhed and Palkhu overflowed in Sialkot city due to torrential rains, which had flooded almost all the congested residential, commercial, industrial and posh areas of Sialkot city. The areas located along the banks of these water channels were still lying inundated as there was about knee-deep flood water in these urban areas including Pulli Topkhana, Sialkot Cantt, Model Town, Pakka Garha, Mag Town, Iqbal Town, Touheed Town, Lorry Adda, Brigadier Colony, Shahabpura, Small Industrial Estate, Rangpura, Naikapura, Imam Sahib, Hajipura, Hajipura-Ban, Kotli Behram, Shatabgarha, Uggoki, Pak Pura, Muslim Town, Muzaffarpur, Dara Arayiaan and Mubarakpura.

Moreover, the administration has set up 10 flood relief camps in areas of Pasrur tehsil for providing maximum relief to the local flood affected people. Assistant Commissioner Rafiq Hassan stated this while talking to the newsmen at Pasrur.
