LAHORE - Wapda Chairman Syed Raghib Abbas Shah has visited Chashma Barrage in order to witness the flood situation there. The chairman was informed that average water outflow at Chasham Barrage was 502,000 cusecs. “He had a detailed round of the barrage, the protection dykes and Chashma Hydel Power Station. He reviewed the level of preparedness in case of any emergency and the arrangements made to handle the situation,” said a statement issued from the authority here.

 on Saturday.  “The Chairman expressed satisfaction over the measures taken in view of the flood, adding that the efforts of the staff in this regard are commendable. He directed the staff to remain vigilant and continue to discharge their duties with utmost devotion for protection of these national assets. He also issued necessary directions for protection of the barrage, dykes and the power station.” Wapda spokesperson said that Chashma Barrage successfully withstood the devastating flood during the year 2010, while other barrages at River Indus had to face various issues during the flood of 2010.
