LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif yesterday expressed satisfaction with the steps being taken for the recovery or return of missing children to their homes.

Presiding over a meeting of steering committee which reviewed in detail the progress made on the cases of lost children, the chief minister said that protection of every child was very important.

The meeting was told that 14 missing children have returned to their homes or have been recovered during last seven days.

The CM appreciated the role of steering committee and concerned institutions for the recovery or return of missing children to their homes. “Due to timely and effective steps of the government, such incidents have reduced,” he claimed.

Shehbaz was of the view that the role of Prosecution Department is of paramount importance for disposing the cases of misplaced children at the earliest; therefore, the department should fully pursue such cases. He also lauded the work of Child Protection & Welfare Bureau.

Proposal for Public Health Agency approved

The chief minister yesterday approved the proposal for a consolidated and autonomous Public Health Agency.

He was presiding over a meeting which considered various proposals for the reorganisation and modernisation of Institute of Public Health and Directorate General Health Services.

He also stressed the need of bringing reforms in these institutes for providing quality health facilities to the masses.

Giving approval to the proposal of establishing Punjab Public Health Agency, the chief minister said that it will be completely autonomous and run on the pattern of Punjab Forensic Science Agency.

Shehbaz Sharif also issued instructions for setting up a steering committee and project management unit for reforms in these institutions.

He further directed that the proposed plan should be speedily implemented.

The Chief Minister will be the head of the Steering Committee whereas Parliamentary Secretary on Health Kh. Imran Nazir will be the head of Project Management Unit.

Good wishes for AJK president

Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has felicitated Masood Khan on his election as President Azad Kashmir.

In a message yesterday, the chief minister expressed good wishes for the newly-elected AJK president. He hoped that Masood Khan will come up to the expectations of the people of Azad Kashmir.

“Masood Khan has been an experienced diplomat and has highlighted the Kashmir issue at international level,” Shehbaz added.
