LAHORE – The provincial government is finally ending the free ride on the Metro Bus Service from Monday (today) and has decided to charge Rs 20 as fare per passenger.

The decision was taken by Punjab CM a couple of days back perhaps keeping in mind elimination of free riders and such passengers of this bus service who were using the public transport as recreational trips and were taking over the right of real passengers adding to the damages done to the buses by the free ride idea.

According to official sources, government has decided to charge Rs 20 as fare from every passenger from Gajjumata to Shahdra.

They said that heavy rush was witnessed from the next day of inauguration of metro bus till date and this fact had been revealed that the aim of most of the people traveling on these buses was just recreation but due to it male and female students and people belonging to other walks of life had to face difficulties whereas incidents of causing damage to metro bus service also happened.

The competent authorities taking notice of this situation reviewed metro bus service at various places for seven days and it was also public opinion that the facility of one month free traveling should be withdrawn as early as possible so that situation could be controlled.

According to further details, the proposals with regard to the fare fixed by metro bus service authority had been approved and the notification for immediately charging fare from passengers has been issued due to which the commuters of this bus service would take a sigh of relief and besides ensuring protection to metro bus service, the real passengers would be benefited from this facility in real sense.
