ISLAMABAD - Yet another case of Dengue virus in the twin cities has been detected as the National Institute of Health (NIH) confirmed a patient, Zulqarnain, positive, officials disclosed to TheNation on Thursday. Hailing from Shakrial, Rawalpindi, Zulqarnian is the second case of the Dengue fever in a row. Now he has been shifted from the Federal Government Services Hospital to PIMS for further treatment. A Frontier Constabulary personnel, who is being treated at the Polyclinic, has already been declared the Dengue fever positive. Later, the NIH collected blood samples of suspected patients and the lab test reports of remaining seven samples are awaited. Meanwhile, senior officials in the Health Ministry held a meeting and discussed the latest situation in this regard. Director General Health Rasheed Jooma chaired the meeting. The Ministry has established a group to keep an eye on the issue and check on the situation. The group comprises Executive Directors of PIMS and Polyclinic Dr Aslam Baig of Malaria Directorate, Dr Barjees of NIH Disease Control Cell and few other officials. As a part of its routine activity and especially during the rainy season, the CDA is currently fumigating the city specially the slum areas, DG Health Dr Rasheed Hooma informed TheNation.
