Government has set the export target for the fiscal year 2008-09 at 22.1 billion dollars, showing an increase of 15 percent. Federal Minister for Commerce, Ahmed Mukhtar stated this while presenting trade policy for the fiscal year 2008-09 which he said aims at encouraging industrialists, investors and traders in the country. The Federal Export Promotion Bureau will be reconstituted under the supervision of the Prime Minister with an aim of enhancing exports while necessary changes will be introduced in Trade Development Authority, he said. In order to reduce the cost of doing business imports of plants, machinery and raw materials have been made duty free under Duty and Tax Remission for Exports scheme. Industrial zones will be established in different cities for industrial development and creation of employment opportunities.
