KARACHI - A large number of employees of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation have staged protest against non-payment of their salaries and pensions here on Tuesday.

This was stated by Chairman Municipal Workers Trade Union Alliance Syed Zulfikar Shah while addressing the protesters despite repeated assurances by KMC Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed about their pending salaries of June which had yet not been paid till the mid of July.

He further said that all workers would stage sit-in at the DCO office at Civic Centre and protests would be continued till payment of salaries and pensions to retired employees.

However, Municipal Commissioner Matanat Ali Khan reached the site and assured that all the dues will be cleared within two days. Later, the protestors dispersed peacefully.

Earlier, the employees of health department, machinery pool, B&R, works and services including fire brigade also participated in the protest.
